Since many of us are continuing to stay home and limit our social contact, I thought it would be an apt time to share some tips for taking photos in your own home, with your own children. I also know that having family photos taken is a luxury and an investment. Many people have been negatively impacted financially by COVID-19, and I know many more are choosing to donate any extra funds to organizations providing help and relief in these uncertain times. Maybe you are planning to hire someone for photos, maybe you aren’t. Either way, documenting this season is important.
Document to remember, to have fun, to be together. Although life is vastly different now than it was last year, in many ways, it’s still the same. We are still laughing and crying, still calling our parents, or sharing news with neighbors. We are still cooking dinner, and tending to scraped knees. We are still dreaming and hoping and longing for connection.
My hope is that these few simple tips will help you think about, and then practice, taking more intentional photos in your own home. Most of these tips incorporate kiddos, but that’s just because I have children and most of my clients do too. You can use these tips for anything though. Photos of your pet, or your spouse, or the story of your days spent.
Have fun documenting and creating as you go!
